Editor’s Letter: Twenty Twenty

Editor’s Letter: Twenty Twenty

Filed under the category “better late than never”, here’s my happy #twentytwenty post! Can you believe we’re already more than halfway through the first month of the new year?

First things first: Why so late? Well, this actually brings me to one of my resolutions, which is taking more off-time. In my case, this means spending more time offline, with my iPhone and laptop switched off. Or at least in-flight mode, and my new Cutler and Gross Glasses donned and book in hand instead. This might seem odd coming from a blogger, but I noticed that spending too much time on The Internet leads to a cluttered mind and less creativity. What I do about it? It boils down to the simplest little things actually, like leaving my phone downstairs when I’m going to sleep, so that I won’t be able to pick it up first thing in the morning to scroll through my Insta feed (FOMO?) or reading some blogs whenever I can’t sleep. And with off-time comes an occasional break, so I decided to take two weeks off to fully enjoy the holidays.

This however doesn’t mean that I am going to blog less, on the contrary. If spending a little bit of time offline here and there really does lead to more creativity (and it does) it will most definitely have a positive effect on my blog(posts). In fact, I already came up with lots of brand spanking new ideas for my blog during the holidays.

Perhaps you’ve already noticed some change. I’ve added a completely new category for example, which is simply called #OOTD. And simple it is, because it’s nothing more than an uncomplicated shot of my outfit of the day. No perfect background, no complex posing, no fuss. I really enjoy creating more editorial style outfit posts too, but I felt like it needed a bit of a counterbalance. Something more everyday and straight-forward. Because after all, isn’t that what blogging is about in the first place?

Secondly, I am no longer going to post an inspiration post every Monday. Instead, I am doing an inspo post at the beginning of every month, which is like an introduction to a brand-new chapter on my blog. See the one from January here. Missing the old Monday Inspiration style posts? No worries, you can find over 100 of those in the archives.

Last but not least, I am currently working on a new lay-out for Style by Jules. One that better enhances my new blogging direction for 2k20. More about that soon, for now I just want to say thanks for having read this letter that accidentally became far longer than expected, and I hope you’ll have a fabulous year!
